Overview

Ronseal Knot Block Wood Primer and Undercoat is everything you need in one tin. It completely blocks wood knots and resins and covers strong colours and dark marks. It won’t yellow, crack or peel and will be ready to paint over in as little as four hours.

Preparation

Always ensure the surface to be treated is clean, dry and free from any dust, algae, fungi or moss.

  • Lightly sand with a 120 grit sandpaper, working in the direction of the grain.
  • If your paintwork is in bad condition and is cracked or peeling sand back to the barewood to provide a smooth service.
  • Wipe with white spirit and a cloth to clean grease, dirt and dust.
  • If there are any cracks or holes fill them with an appropriate wood filler.

Application

Stir the product thoroughly, test a small area to ensure you are happy with the product.

  • Using a brush paint on in the direction of the grain.
  • Allow 4 hours for the first coat to dry.
  • Apply the second coat.
  • Allow another 4 hours for the coat to dry and apply a topcoat.

Note: Always follow the manufacturer instructions found on the tin.

Aftercare & Storage

Cleaning

Remember this is only a primer and undercoat, so you should paint over it.


Repair

If you notice damage or your primer has chipped, it’s easy to repair. Just sand down the area that needs repairing and then apply two more coats.
